Experiencing a vacation in the Landes is a bit like living the Californian dream, except by an ocean since here we are talking about the Atlantic!
What can we say about these long cycle paths which offer cyclists and longboarders alike kilometers of trails in the heart of nature and connect each of the 15 seaside resorts on the coast to each other. It feels like Venice Beach with the added pine trees!
The sites and nature reserves are just as essential as the freshwater lakes that look like Pacific lagoons.
So you too will come and experience a holiday in Landestyle mode?

A series of large freshwater lakes lined with sandy beaches and pine trees, close to the coast, including that of Cazaux-Sanguinet, the second largest freshwater lake in France with its 55 km2 or the lakes of Parentis-Biscarrosse, Aureilhan-Mimizan, Léon, Soustons, Port-d’Albret, the white and black ponds of Seignosse, or Lake Hossegor.
The Landes coastline is the European capital of surfing with ideal conditions both for learning and for high-level practice, linked to the presence of beach breaks (waves with a sandy bottom) that are very varied and surfable all year round. Hossegor and its neighbors Seignosse and Capbreton have acquired a worldwide reputation thanks to the presence of numerous spots, including Nord and La Gravière d’Hossegor, where a professional circuit event takes place every year in October.
The Landes is also the leading thermal department in France with 19 thermal establishments which welcome nearly 80,000 spa guests each year in 5 resorts: Dax and Saint-Paul-lès-Dax, which form the first thermal agglomeration in France, Eugénie-les- Bains, Préchacq-les-Bains and Saubusse. In addition to prescribed and reimbursed three-week cures, these establishments also offer mini-cures and short wellness and fitness stays throughout the year.
From everyday journeys to long crossings over several days, the Landes can be experienced by bike, with nearly 600 km of secure cycle paths and 1700 km of marked routes, including two Euroveloroutes: the Scandibérique and the Vélodyssée, which cross the department from side to side. The Accueil Vélo label commits professionals (campsites, hotels, guest houses, cycle rental and repair companies, visiting sites) to offer services adapted to the needs of cyclists.
Around ten golf courses and driving ranges, including three internationally renowned courses. Express your passion in an exceptional natural landscape between pine trees and the ocean. On sandy soil, golf is played all year round in the Landes.
